Irene

Hey there! My name is Irene, I am the older of the "sistahs."  I worked a few different jobs in accounting and insurance offices, but got married and started my family in my early 20's. Our Mom was well known in our family for hosting huge parties for Christmas and other holidays, and all of the cooking was left to her. We have learned many of the Greek family favorites and use her recipes at What's for Dinnah?. Our family bonds over food, whether it be cooking for 20 on the beaches of NC, or using local ingredients at our house in Greece, it brings us together. Cooking, to us, is a social activity with delicious benefits!

Let us cook for your family like we do for ours.

Hi! My name is Parrie, I was born in Brooklyn into a Greek family with a sister who is 18 months older than me, and a brother who came along 8 years later. We moved to LI when I was 16 for a better life. I graduated from RP High School and Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School and have worked in the mortgage and banking field ever since. Because I come from a family of chefs and diner owners, I have always had a passion for cooking for my family and friends. After making a few meals for my coworkers, I realized that cooking is my ideal career and I should pursue it!  I left banking (and my commute to Melville) and decided to cook for the local community with the help of my sister, son and daughter. We are a family owned and operated business. I'm looking forward to serving you and your family delicious food!

November 6th, 1993 ~ April 20th, 2018

Parrie's son, Chris, unexpectedly passed away at the age of 24 in April of 2018. Chris was full of charm, wit and intelligence, offering a friendly smile to all. He was able to make anyone laugh, and was so excited to be the face of What's for Dinnah? "You just cook, Ma, I'll handle the rest" was what he constantly told Parrie. This was a devastating loss for the entire family, but we decided to still open What's for Dinnah? in his honor. With the shared efforts of family, community and friends, we are excited to serve the area with Chris as our guardian angel. We hope you have an appitite as big as his!
